TWI-Descon

TWI and Descon Engineering joined hands signing an MOU on May 26, 2008 for establishing a joint venture TWI. The establishment will cater to demands of training for the growing market of welding, joining, painting, NDT training, inspection and related services with the up-to-date techniques and state-of-the-art technology and expertise.
The aim for the joint venture is to become the benchmark for training in the local market across a wide spectrum of welding and inspection technology. Together with TWI, the management at Descon Engineering Limited aims at educating the industry and providing value-enhanced technical training and certification programs to meet the evolving requirements of local engineering market.
The MOU is aligned with the vision of Descon to become a world class engineering, manufacturing and construction company operating internationally. The joint venture will not only capitalize on its own training capabilities but also on its associated company Inspectest and in-house training establishments – Corporate Training & Development as well as Descon Training Institute.
Descon is awarded an EPC contract for a 225 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant

Descon Engineering Limited has signed a contract with Halmore Power Generation Company (Pvt.) Limited, an Independent Power Producer, here on April 12, for a 225 MW thermal power plant on engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis at Bhikki, Punjab. The ceremony was attended by Chairman Descon; Mr. Abdul Razzak Dawood, Managing Director & CEO Descon Mr. Sheikh Azhar Ali and Chief Executive Halmore; Dr. Mian M. Sharif. The top managements of both organizations were also present at the moment. By signing this contract Descon has become the first Pakistani Company that will execute a combined cycle power plant on EPC basis. This in itself is a great leap and a moment of great pride for the local engineering industry. The project is expected to reach its completion by middle of 2010.
